Hello Folks!..What a great time I had at the claim this week end..I traveled
light..No trailer,,just the bare minimum..my cot, bag, buckets, pick, shovel, and the
most important Gold Cradle..I checked a spot on the bank of the bend right in front
of the base camp and hit the best stringer yet..I think the Cradle washes the fines
out better than any tool I've tried yet..Boy, it's nice to fine values in just about
every clean up..I worked steady for hour after hour..It's tricky following the "zone
"of deposit..sometimes I'd be too high, sometimes I'd be too low..After a while I
could see the difference in the texture of the gold bearing level and do good..The
advantage to having the Gold Cradle is being able to check the primary moss after
running a hopper full to see if I was catching gold..What a bonus..I could track the
pay dirt with greater accuracy..I sure love being down in the creek rocking, washing, and digging..
I had a friendly lizard that kept a close watch on me and when I'd
uncover a grub he'd run down and grab it ..It was really cute. He had no fear of me
and we became partners of a sort...The sound of the water over rocks, the singing of
the birds, the rich smell of green growing things..Life can't be better....I sure
sleep good out here..I did not even have a camp fire..Hit the rack at dark and rose
with the sun....
There was an old timer out here who had alot of ground under claim
in the late 1890s and early 1900's by the name of Henry... There is a spring a
few miles away from here that bears his name...Henry had a placer claim down this
very creek he called the Morning Star. I awoke early this morning and the first
thing I noticed was the big bright morning star..It is really apparent out
here..might be why he named his claim after it...
Well I got to hit the hay
now...Hope all is well with you...Oh..The picture is from my work spot looking back
toward camp..See how close I was...I've been working as far away as a 1/4 mile down
the creek, so this was a real treat..Gold right under my nose..It is truely where
you find it....But I know the real treasure is just being there...best
wishes....Hope to hear from you..John
Thanks John for reminding us on how gold can be found and the enjoyment of finding the real treasure. Thanks for sharing. We look forward to more!Back
